Adaptive, Collaborative, Analytical

What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about sociology – in particular, socioeconomics and anything sociopolitical. I am fascinated by the role of social structures in everyday life. Given the divides in today’s society, it’s eye-opening to understand how social constructs are a key divide in how individuals view things from a political perspective.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
A teacher in High School thought this Benjamin Franklin quote would be something I’d relate to: “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” Fair to say, many years later I’ve found I really connect with it. Always be hungry, never settle, make sure that you’re constantly improving yourself – these are all things I hold myself accountable to on a daily basis.

What is one podcast you would recommend?
I can’t pick just one so I’ll give you four: The Daily, Masters of Scale, The Argument, and FiveThirtyEight Politics.

What is your personal mantra?
Be better today than yesterday.

How have you grown since joining GALE?
I have grown leaps and bounds; every day is a growth opportunity. I’ve especially grown as a leader, and now enjoy encouraging growth in others. At the end of the day, I feel success in seeing others grow and succeed. Being a factor in that growth means a lot to me.

If you had a side hustle what would it be?
Given my love of numbers and sociology – I’d be a professional sports gambler.

If you could pick one person living or dead to be your mentor who would it be? Why?
Barack Obama. In the eight years he was president of the US, he has achieved things that I didn’t believe were possible. I still remember the day he was elected president and the impact it had on me, my friends, my family. He opened doors for many people where doors hadn’t previously existed.
