Black History Month: Charles McGee

Share

Today we honor Charles McGee, one of the last living members of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black military aviators group established during World War II. Brigadier General McGee, who celebrated his 101st birthday in December 2020, flew 409 successful missions during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

It’s Black History Month, and we’re very excited to use our platform to spotlight the many contributions from people of color, ranging from creators to politicians to sports figures to social justice advocates and more. This month, keep an eye on GALE as we curate stories and highlight the changemakers who are pushing boundaries and making history happen as we speak.
